The original
GedHTree website (www.gedhtree.com) no longer exists.
The author,
Gary Welker, passed away in 2015 and the program is no longer supported.
My family
tree was generated with GedHTree V2.70.
However,
Free GEDCOM
to HTML/Website Options exist, but I have not tried any of them.
- Gramps: A free, open-source desktop
genealogy program for Windows, Mac, and Linux that lets you import your
GEDCOM file and export/generate static web pages or reports.
- HuMo-gen: A free and open-source PHP
program that converts GEDCOM files into dynamic, searchable family tree
websites on a local server or web host.
- GedTree: A simple freeware application
for Windows that reads a GEDCOM file and builds static HTML website
output.
- gedfile.com: A browser-based local tool that
lets you view, read, and check your GEDCOM data safely in your browser
without uploading your sensitive data to an external server.
Opinions on
Reddit's genealogy community are mixed regarding the best approach; some users
recommend generating static HTML pages via software like Gramps, while others
prefer running a server-based application like Webtrees
or HuMo-gen for a more interactive site.
